Behind the Scenes
Sketches
Sketching is crucial for designers to explore, iterate, and refine their ideas in a timely manner. Even if the sketches are not refined, they allow designers to quickly visualize and communicate their concepts in a tangible form. This iterative process helps identify potential problems early on and enables designers to experiment and explore various design options. Sketching ultimately leads to better design outcomes and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
Before
Before photos are an essential part of the planning process as they provide a visual reference for the final output. In this particular case, the "Around the World" merch brand provided the inspiration for the design. By studying the initial image that featured the five people, boat, and buildings, I was able to identify the elements that needed to be preserved in the final design. This included the people, the boat, and the buildings in the background. The addition of a plane and iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, and Big Ben, as well as a palm tree, enhanced the design and created a sense of travel and adventure. Planning with before photos helped ensure that the design was consistent with the brand's theme and that the final output conveyed the intended message of travel and exploration.
The importance of an after photo in the design process cannot be overstated. It allows designers to refine and enhance the original image using various post-processing tools such as Camera Raw filters, adjustment layers like curves, color balance, exposure, and LUTs to make the image pop, add vibrance, depth, and contrast. The advantages of post-processing are numerous and include color toning, sharpness, contrast, distraction removal, and adding texture. In this design, the addition of splash effects, highlights, shadows, wave currents, and palm trees created a more realistic stranded scene, while masks and other editing techniques like the bandanna on Tekkmar and color enhancements made the image more visually appealing. Overall, the after photo showcases the transformation from an ordinary image to a striking and immersive visual representation, making it an essential part of the design process.
Branding and Titling
A good title is an essential component of any design as it can grab the viewer's attention and provide a clear indication of the theme or message. In this case, "Stranded on World Tour" is a great title that captures the essence of the design and ties it to the merch brand "Around the World." The positioning of "Stranded on" above "World Tour" helps to emphasize the world tour theme, while the use of the team logos adds a layer of familiarity and relevance for fans.

Having a clear and catchy title not only attracts viewers but also helps to communicate the intended message effectively. It is an opportunity to create a connection with the audience and make the design more memorable. Additionally, incorporating the team logos is an excellent way to enhance the design's cohesiveness and provide additional context. It is also an opportunity to showcase the team's identity and brand, making it more relevant to fans. Therefore, a good title is an important element that should be carefully considered when creating any design, as it can significantly impact its overall effectiveness.
