As part of a Tactical Place Making proposal I developed for my final year degree project I wanted to develop a real time intervention in to the fabric of Derby city to further my knowledge of Tactical Place Making.
This Performance Inatallation was designed using the principles of Tactical Place Making and created entirely through recycled materials (the LEDs being the exception).
The piece, performed by Debi Hedderwick, started with her entering the piece wearing an elaborate skirt and then as it unravelled formed a sculptural space.
As well as lights being embedded into the installation its self other lighting installatons were placed into the space. 100 magnetic LEDs were attached to existing street furniture and acted as a light backround to the performance along with a series of glowing jars.
The piece was originally designed for a more remote location so I could better test the effects of Tactical Place Making but due to unforseen circumstances the piece had to be relocated and redesigned. This transition transformed the original design of a parasitic canopy to an open space reflecting ideas of a journey.
