IBM - Infographics

Meaghan at Gawker Media contacted me with a commission for several illustrations and icon designs for IBM. The visuals were to be used in infographics describing the Uncommon Threads: three stories describing how IBM has helped very different brands evolve and progress.

For these stories I created three main illustrations, based on the concept provided by Ogilvy NY. Each time combining the two Uncommon Threads: Italian Cheese & Arctic Work-Wear, Hit Making & Bone Mending, and Cold Cuts and Hot Couture. After this I developed six icons for each infographic, which accompanied the different fases of the brand stories.

Client: IBM

Concept sketches for the main characters

Each of the main characters visually combined the two stories of the infographic.

Cow with parka coat (Italian Cheese and Arctic Work-Wear)

Skeleton rocking out (Hit Making & Bone Mending)

Butcher wearing apron with chevron pattern (Cold Cuts and Hot Couture)

Some elements that didn't make the final illustration. (Although they were funny)

The layouts were designed at Gawker Studios.

Lives were saved... (* dramatic tone *)

Eventually the client decided not to use the pig in the butcher visual.
Piggy was very thankful and is of course alive and well (though still slightly panicked).
