Maverick 22: Advertising Agency

This project was to design a sustainable space for an advertising agency called Maverick 22, who was concerned with protecting the environment by no longer printing their ads, but only producing them digitally. My space for Maverick 22 is sustainable through material choices like bamboo and upholstery with recycled content, as well as using geothermal energy, skylights, and cisterns for rainwater collection and reuse. The concept for this building was inspired by the left and right-brained nature of advertising agencies, as I wanted to showcase the interweaving of the two. This was produced through the use of "ribbons" in the space, one material that weaves throughout the building- creating the floor, walls, and ceiling. I wove a bamboo ribbon horizontally, with a metal mesh ribbon vertically, and where they intersect, becomes a flexible work area for the "left and right-brained" workers at Maverick 22 to collaborate together.
