For this bike rack project, my main aim was to design a secure, durable, functional and aesthetically pleasing bicycle parking solution. Overdesigning products and making products look more like an art piece are something that I am trying to overcome in this project. Therefore, focusing more on how to balance both functionality and aesthetics was my goal. 

My design concept originated from the research that I have done on bike racks. There are a few drawbacks with current bike rack designs, such as limited access to bike racks in parks, lock that keeps sliding up and down while locking which makes it more difficult for the user. Often times the locking mechanism caused the bicycle to drop. Furthermore, the lack of bike seat protection against various weather conditions can affect the durability of the seating.

Keeping in mind the material and manufacturing specifications for mass production, BEPARK is designed to fit the constant changesof Sydney weather. using stainless steel with matte finish which has great corrosion resistance and does not produce water stamps marks after a rain. The design also enables users to lock two bikes on both sides without being overlapped with one and another. Various placement arrangements can be made using this design, adjustable to different settings and enviroments.
