The Swimmers - insideout Concept Album Cover
Personal project for an album cover by my fictional band The Swimmers
Inspired by a concept about an editorial article, I imagined this art as a spot illustration for ELLE FRANCE magazine, special for the session "Psycho & Sexo". The illustration is inspired by the image of self-care and self-love, practices of relating to oneself, from the point of view of the female narrative.
At first, I made it inspired by a photograph and, when I was painting it, the words that came to me were: self-care and self-love, self-protection. I titled it Young Strong.
I also thought a lot in the context of us young women, in the midst of the era of dissolved relationships, almost in a state of evaporation, due to our networking behavior and in the context of the pandemic.

I immediately associated this image with a story about us women relating to ourselves. How is our relationship with our body and then I started to imagine about an topic. An article involving relationships in general and affective hangover, a term I call for situations in which, due to the excesses of affective involvements, and romantic adventures, especially linked to the context of empty liquid relationships and passing affairs, there comes a time when we are left hangover. Like a kind of burnout, in which the existential void screams louder.
In my research, I found an article from the magazine itself on the subject, which I adopted as a reference.
The article revolves more around a post-rupture but, reading it, I could find a connection with the idea of my fictional topic, created from this illustration. Therefore, I decided to make an example of what this article would be inspired by this idea that I had initially.

After that, the development of the album cover INSIDEOUT emerged, whose story revolves around self-care and the need to seek comfort within ourselves after this emotional burnout.
It's based on situations experienced by the main character, on his/her traumatic and bittersweet love experiences. The album is a collection of these stories and experiences transformed and synthesized after this period of solitude. It addresses the importance of these breaths.
As if it were an analysis of the main character, who, after living these experiences, takes time to be isolated, seeking in the self the needed comfort to recover and, in the process, the discovering of a new world.
