"CHiNGLiSH Brands" is a sustainable sculpture series created and compressed with retail-generated paper bags that explores the environmental impact of commerce, and highlights the psychology of aspirational consumerism.
In a consumer society like the one we live in today, we consume for our needs, desires and identity. But what happens when consumption causes problems that are more than we can manage? The collective influences of advertising and consumer strategies enhance an individual's impulse for desire and greed, which leads to the social impact of over-consumption and the wastes created. And reflects upon the role of the individual in the contemporary global sustainability crisis, which can be exacerbated or remedied by both collective and personal choices.
