Double-walled Teaset

Industrial Design
Designed to provide a sense of humble refinement to an everyday experience, the double-walled teaset developed as an innovation to the insulated teapot. The air cavities in the teapot and cups help maintain the contents’ temperature, whilst ensuring the outside is not too hot to handle comfortably.
The understated forms underline the simplicity of the wares’ construction and enhance the tactility of the clay, which, along with the natural palette, highlights the subtle glazed details.
Doing away with fabric/knitted/metal heat-preserving covers, the elements of the teaset are slipcast. The result is a collection of utilitarian vessels formed of a single material; the outcome fits within the convention of ceramic tea wares, but places more of an emphasis on design process than craft sensibility.
