Madame Butterfly Opera Poster- photo collage made with Photoshop.
I wanted to incorporate symbolism within my poster that represented the opera so that someone who might have seen the opera would immediately be drawn to the poster. Madame Butterfly wore the traditional Giesha outfit, that is shown in the silhouette. The traditional outfit had a large red bow in the back which I represented with the butterfly outline with a red spider lily which is a symbol of death in Japan. The origami is another symbol of Japan as well as the cherry blossom which represents the springtime. For the typography I wanted something bold because of the drama that is brought along with the opera and wanted to create something eye catching.
