good kid, m.A.A.d city

For my album cover re-design, I chose one of my favorite albums, good kid, m.A.A.d city. Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite musical artists, and his work has been very influential for many. For my album cover, I wanted it to be very simplistic while still portraying a message. I chose to put a halo above the title of the album to embody the “good kid” part of the album. I did this by using the shape tool in photoshop to create an oval and then erasing the fill so I was left with the outline of the oval. The font I used for the title had a paint drip effect that I really liked, so I chose to incorporate that into my design. I did this by using a paint drip brush that I had found and strategically placing paint drips all along the halo. I added the Parental Advisory warning to add another layer of detail, and then added paint drips to the bottom. If I had more time to work on this project, I would’ve found a better way to incorporate a cityscape into my design, given that it plays a major role in the album. Overall, I am very happy with how my album cover turned out.
