Skate! E Reti! | Womxn's Skate Jam
Te Papa, Wana Ake Festival

With the backing of Te Papa (Aotearoa New Zealand's national museum), creatively spearheaded a series of inclusive skateboarding events/workshops as part of it's Wana Ake Festival.
The Womxn's Skate Jam was an extra special event because we invited local Pōneke womxn* skaters to skateboard in the museum's underground carpark. A location that otherwise bans everything except cars.
For one night only, these skaters could practice and play without the fear of being harassed, gawked at or judged by (typically) cis-male onlookers. Not only that, we threw in pizza, a live DJ and friendly female skate coaches to ensure everyone felt welcomed and had a good time.
Definitely one of the proudest projects I've worked on so far!
