This handwoven basket hanging in my office is one of my favorite items I charish. I like the imperfect shape it creates due to being made by hand and because of this no two will ever be exactly alike. The handles are woven in a smaller weave making them easy to grasp and mold to your hands when you carry the basket. I love the natural colors made from the palm leaves and multiple functions it carries whether your using if for fruit or something to carry or just plain decor.
Below is a list of words I hope to capture in my work and create in my practice as a designer. I feel these words represent me the most as I figure out my style and what's most important to me.
I’ve recently been getting back into painting with my oil paints. I love painting on driftwood that I  find on the beach when I’m walking my dog. Getting outside when I feel stuck on something or simply just getting fresh air is always the first step to my creative process so I can start with a clear head. It was challenging since it’s been a couple years since I’ve painted. New year new art :)
I choose my Coco Chanel perfume as something that reflects my identity because I love the classic look and smell of the bottle. It's nostoligic to me since I bought my first bottle the first time I went to Paris with my sister and best friend. I love the shape of the bottle and how simole and chic it looks. Even the suttle shade of pink in the perfume makes me feel like I'm taking a moment to myself when I spray it on.

"Design and life are interconnected"
-Massimo Vignelli
A quote by Milton Glaser from one of the documentaries we watch. Milton Glaser said it wasn’t being called an artist, a designer, an illustrator, a painter or any other title, it was the core value of making things through an idea in your mind and transforming something to real or materialistic.

Through the National Parks System, Massimo Vignelli created over hundreds of brochures and designs using one simple grid system and transforming rangers into graphic designers. His use of spacing, typography, and black space makes it timeless.

I chose a book called “Parks” published by Standards Manual and created by Brian Kelley. It focuses on all the maps and brochures that were made by the United States National Park Service. It goes through the history of the National Parks being established, along with the influence of midcentury and the use of unigrids created by Vignelli. I think this is one of the positive outcomes that came from the United States and the use of Helvetica and I constantly find myself using this book as a resource of inspiration.
“I think that of all the projects I have worked on during my long career in design, this one has impacted more people than my other, and because of this, it is perhaps my favorite.”
-Massimo Vignelli
Most advertising is offensive but when advertising is done well it celebrates a brand in an artful and beautiful way. A big part of being a designer is how you look at the world and questioning why it’s like that or this? We’re constantly designing in our heads. Good design is defined by how you look at the world. So here is a random photo of little Kona (the youngest cat) sitting so comfortable on fur and just being a cat.
