LOCATION AND CONTEXT

The project sits in the middle of a lively, young area, considered the new city center. This hip neighborhood, surrounded by restaurants, bars, and services of all kinds, has rapidly changed its land use from residential to high-mixture in record time. Medellín is today the city with the highest number of tourists in Colombia, and this neighborhood is the heart of this cultural scene.

CONCEPT

The project was born as a response to the needs of the adventurous and uncomplicated traveler, the one looking for a mid or long-term immersive stay rather than a short stay full of luxuries and attention, guests who don’t settle for first impressions and like to explore and understand the city culture. Our design team wanted to create a place where people can always feel at home, with neutral and comfy materials and textures, functional and practical shapes, and vibrant colors that recall the warmth of the tropical scene waiting behind the door.

The interdisciplinary work team, made up of architects, builders, designers, and hotel operators, was ruled by the premise of achieving maximum results with minimum impact and investment. Taking advantage of the old structure of a small office building, we managed to plot five independent suite apartments per floor, under the Airbnb format, with some extra services to suit high-end travelers, solo explorers, and groups.
