Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Eastern Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the war, in particular, the advanced positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kharkiv region. He thanked the defenders of the country for their service and presented them with state awards.

During a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on May 8 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to Ukrainian sappers who demine territories previously occupied by the Russian Federation. The dog Patron who helps his owner with demining also received an award.
