This is a milled belt buckle which was designed and made during Year 12 Design and Technology. The initial designs were thumbnail sketches and then progressed into 2-point perspective drawings to show the different heights that would be milled. Through investigation into manufacturing processes it showed that some of my designs were not feasible due to the sharp corners. With limited tools sizes available it meant the sharp corners were too difficult to make, this meant that the final 3 designs I was considering had to be changed to make them achievable.
This is the finished milled belt buckle completed in 2021 during Year 12. The design brief was based on the brand Grip6. Due to the cutter ends always creating a radius at the end of the cut, I took advantage of this to make it a feature in my final product. By applying a colour it provided a unique style in line with Grip6 but with a twist.
