This is a collection of the some of the work that i did for Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate, this was done at Armature Studios and produced by Warner Bros.  Some of these are early mockups and are not an exact representation of what’s in the actual shipped game.

 

The Front end was done in a completely different style from the rest of the game. The Art Director wanted it to convey the duality that exists in Batman himself.  

Concepts for elements being placed in the HUD, also are examples below of the animated icons that appeared in game.

The Batcomputer
There are two different styles to the UI in-game. The first inspiration for this project was old tech since it takes place before the other two Arkham Series games.  It should look as though Batman is just putting it together for the first time.  So there should be bugs in the system and things he is still working out.  Its why in the background of most of the screens you will see little animations of what looks like pieces of code running and scanning.  We looked at old linux based computer screens and 80s style interfaces to get the look and feel for this.  

Map Systems
A quick animated mockup from early on in the project of what was the vision for the animation of the map screen and a mockup of the difference in the layout of the 3DS screens. This also included a HUB map which was used for Fast Travel (shown below the regular map) and an overview map which could be used to see what sections you have completed overall.  

Inventory Tab
A place to view the gadgets you currently have in your inventory as well as the Batsuits and Upgrades you have collected through the game. Mockups are for both the Vita and 3DS.

The player can view the cases he has collected and/or solved throughout the game.  Giving a closer look at the items collected and also the end story if all the pieces have been discovered.
