3Dprint your own insoles! -work in progress-

This project aims to investigate the relationship between health-related applications and DIY world.
In particular explores the possibility to design your own insoles to better feel, walk and run, based on the results of a pedobarography.

"Pedobarography (pedos = foot + baros = pressure) is the study of pressure fields acting between the plantar surface of the foot and a supporting surface"
- Thanks Wikipedia!

It’s a cheap exam that needs to be performed in ambulatory with specialized medical equipment .
The output of the exam is a serie of data, often summarized in something similar to the following image, where higher pressure fields are shown in stronger colors.
By using tailor-engineered algorithms and parametric design software it was possible to create a definition that computes the ideal insole topology based on the weight distribution illustrated on a pedobarography.
the image shows the first section of the Grasshopper definition
Mapping the extension and resolution of the different elastic insole components makes possible to taylor-engineer the response on every single section.
This particular customization is easily achievable using additive manufacturing technology, both through different density multi-material 3D printing, or highly elastic single-material 3D printed structures.

The images below show the results of the first computation, other solutions will follow in the upcoming days.
