Isotonic Drink Packaging Design

Problem Statement

Langkawi is rich in high-quality seaweed in Peninsular Malaysia. However, due to the lack of technology, seaweed production is unable to exert its maximum commercial value and generate more benefits. There are a lot of tourists participate in sports and activities. The demand for isotonic drinks is high and therefore seaweed isotonic drinks will be an ideal option for the tourist to regain their energy. In order to be ecologically responsible, the packaging will take the form of aluminum sleek that can be recycled several times.
Objective

Malaysia is a hot weather country, and it makes Langkawi a tourist place because it possesses the beauty of nature, including white sands, clear blue water and beautiful landscape. Thus, there are a variety of activities for the tourist, such as spas, nightlife and wildlife parks. All kinds of activities and water sports will increase the need for drinks, especially isotonic drinks, to regain energy. Not only that, the seaweed farming industry in Langkawi is able to produce 100 caged seaweeds, and an average of 70 kg is produced per cage. It can create nearly RM3000 income per month. These are the purposes why our team decided to grab the opportunity to design isotonic drink packaging.
Material Consideration

Aluminum is more expensive than plastic, and the production cost will increase. However, aluminum is sustainable, BPA-free and can be recycled, it is environmentally friendly compared to plastic bottles. Another benefit is that aluminum can able to cool faster and stay cooler longer. Therefore, to consider the harmful effect towards the environment and the body’s health, our team decided to use aluminum as the material of isotonic drinks.
