A Gentle Creature

Alena Medyakova had been nurturing the idea of staging Dostoevsky’s "A Gentle Creature" for several years. As a theater director, she realized that this powerful story needed to be told through movement rather than words. Determined to bring her vision to life, she began searching for a team that could translate her concept into a mesmerizing performance.
Our paths crossed through mutual acquaintances who knew she was in search of a choreographer and dancers. My theater, Altana, specializes in modern choreography, yet we have a deep appreciation for the classics. From our very first meeting, Alena and I recognized that we were a perfect match for this project.
The premiere took place in 2015, and the production was met with acclaim. We performed numerous shows, ranging from commercial engagements to charity events and prestigious festivals. The recognition we received, particularly the diploma for “aesthetic excellence,” perfectly encapsulated the essence of our work and the profound impact of our collaboration.
