SOSRYQWA BRINGS FIRE TO THE NARTS!
Sosryqwa (Саусэрыкъо) is a central character in many cycles of the Nart sagas of the Caucasus. Sosryqwa is narrated to us as the most active and revolutionary hero in the Nart legends. He goes by his mother's name as Setenai's son "Savserez". While Setenai was washing clothes by the stream, the cowherd of the Narts came to the opposite bank of the river to water his animals. Upon seeing Savserez, she instantly falls in love with him. Setenay, on the other hand, was disturbed by these glances and when she blushed and wanted to get up, the shepherd told him to take the stone he was sitting on and leave. Sosryqwa does as he is told and wraps the stone and puts it at the hearth. Day by day, the stone grows larger and the woolen threads around it break. Nine months and ten days later, he takes the stone to Tlepsh, the god of blacksmiths. Tlepsh beats the stone nonstop for seven days and nights, and a boy is born, burning with fire. Tlepsh grabs him by the knees (or waist according to another narration) with his tongs and dips him in cold water seven times, bringing the water to a boil each time. Thus, Sosryqwa is steeled all over and grows very quickly. That's why it's called Sosryqwa, meaning "burning child". Like her mother, Savserez or Sosryqwa has divine features; natural events such as storms, lightning, cold weather, fog, etc. would obey him. Sosryqwa was known for his revolutionaryness among the Narts and was feared and respected. Giants, other Narts and gods feared him. He took fire, grape and wine culture from the gods and gave it to people. His faithful friend is his horse named Tchojiy. However, because he did not listen to him, when he hit Shanshereche with his weak knee, his feet were cut off and he died.
