Chestnut Avenue

A tropical apartment situated next to forested areas in Chestnut Nature Park and Upper Peirce Reservoir in Singapore.

This personal project was conceptualized and visualized in CGI over a year-long period, and faithfully brought to life over a period of about 3 months.

With subtle nature cues, the interior was aimed to feel like an extension of the exterior architecture originally created by ADDP Architects; with rounded surfaces, combination of gray tones, diagonal beams, nature inspired outdoor furniture and lush greenery.

Project Size: 1227ft²
Hexagonal balcony floor tiles tie in visually with the diagonal architectural support beams supporting the exterior roof gardens and brings a welcome sense of modernity. Outdoor furniture and sockets are used in the balcony so water ingress will not pose issues when facing inclement weather.
All rounded edges in the apartment serve their own functional purpose, the rounded bar counter and dining vanity helps with ease of movement at the entrance and dining area. Rounded ceiling structures frame the social spaces in the main living area.

The entrance cement screed floor serves as an arrival area for ease of entry and cleaning; useful given the apartment's proximity to nature and mountain biking trails.
Originally a metal stud partition wall concealing a mini washroom, one side of the bathroom wall was removed whilst symmetrical black louvre doors were added to improve access to the yard storage area. This area is now used as a shower/wash area.
Storage mirrors were used in all bathrooms to reduce clutter, dense terrazzo and distorted beveled wall tiles introduces a visual break from monotony.
The initial build up.
