Like many of you, we grew up watching Transformers and dreamed of owning those amazing robots and playing around with them. So when Nick contacted us to promote the new animated saga coming to the channel (for the first time ever), we were just as excited as when we were kids.
The challenge then was to develop a spot that shows this new union between Nick and Transformers, but without using actual parts of the robots. We had to analyse the style and behavior, and convey it in a more abstract way. Also, some of the irreverent spirit of Nickelodeon had to take part in the proposal.
So, we started playing with the Nick logo, breaking it down into simpler shapes and integrating it into smart mechanisms and articulations. The result is this short but powerful spot, full of small details and gadgets that altoghether accomplish the Transformers style.
Here are some highlights and details from the different transformations and parts. Everything happens almost at once, so it's usfeful a little breakdown to appreciate it a bit better.
We also developed an alternative version with some adds that didn't make it into the final cut.
It includes graphic and tipographic maps, an initial power on and a final switch off, and also a more complex central core reveal, with circuits and chips. Below some highlights from it.
