Wind powered drip irrigation system

Wind powered drip irrigation system
Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The purpose is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation. The heart of most water drip irrigation system is a pump. To make a water drip irrigation system as efficient as possible, the pump must be selected to match the requirements of the water source, the water distribution system and the irrigation equipment. For pumping water from the source of water to the farm can use a wind mill to provide energy. It is a main part of this system which converts the wind energy into a mechanical energy.

In this we have to design the part according to the wind velocity of the area, more effective height to the propeller and how much strength it should bear. For this type of propeller, it is necessary to use more area containing propeller with low-cost material and with proper strength, then it can generate more torque.
Generated power through the propeller will carry through a shaft which is connected to the pulley setup through a belt. According to the requirement, (torque and the speed of the pump) pulley sizes should be designed.
Output rotary motion from the pulley setup will be connected to the pump piston rod (slider crank mechanism). Considering the elevation of the area, area of the field and planting plant sepsis’ water requirement volume of the soil, head will be calculated and according to that pump size will be design. To suck the water to the pump and for pump that suction water to tank or field, through pipe line two one directional flow control valves (check valves) is used.
