Midnights Seltzer
At first, it was hard to design a seltzer that would incorporate Taylor Swift's style because I felt like the styles were slightly different. Seltzer felt more like playful colors, like yellow, green, blue, since it emphasized the flavor of the seltzer through fruits. However, my group researched the colors palette, tones, typefaces, shapes, and other design features that she used in her album or style, and I found that the contrast seemed similar to the Seltzer design.
During my sketch phase and early designing phases, I was struggling to create a seltzer brand that would incorporate the style of Taylor Swift. I created many sketches, but most of them didn't strike appealing or eye-catching to me. However, after considering the name of her most recent album — Midnight, I decided to focus on a black background. I also tried to make a logo that would stand out and show true contrast from the black background, which is why I designed the moon. Then I proceeded to include the features that define seltzer, such as bold, colorful fruit colors.
Originally, I was going to design a full moon with a crescent fruit shape, but it looked odd to implement. I changed my design to a crescent moon as my "defined" logo, and fruits on the bottom to define the flavor. However, that looked too complicated, so I went back to my original design. I really wanted the crescent moon as my logo, so I decided to implement it into the "Midnight" name of the Seltzer. It turned out great, and looked much more simpler than my previous ideas. I made the top of the cans red, since it's the main color that Taylor Swift uses to contrast her neutral style, just like how I want to contrast the whole can. I also used the Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro 65 Medium font, which was used in Taylor Swift's album. After implementing it on Adobe Illustrator, I put the design on the 3D can models in Adobe Dimension.
