Music Poster Design

How can music be visualised?

By listening to different music styles — jazz, club, rock, world, indie and classic — we developed matching forms and color schemes. Putting our findings in an adequate form we designed six fictional posters for BBC Radio.

Since music is a versatile phenomenon we were looking for versatile forms which would match our genres. Therefore, we used both analogue and digital techniques:
Folding paper in different ways and setting it over a light source, we created various silhouettes. Tied to the music topic we put a CD between paper and light to create a more substantial form. After that we vectorised the shapes, added type and applied our color schemes.

Moreover, using the exact same techniques, we created a 30-second-teaser.
