Is Artify comparable to Copic?

Have you ever wondered how two similar-looking markers can vary so much in price?

Take Copic and Artify Markers for example. Whether you’re a professional artist or an art enthusiast, you may have already stumbled upon Artify. They look pretty much the same as the iconic Copic markers at first glance, but are the two actually comparable?

Let’s thoroughly dive into it in this short read.

Immense Price Difference

When we say immense, we mean very immense. It’s fair to say that the costly price of the famous Copic alcohol-based markers is justifiable. Ranging from $8 to $10 per piece, Copic delivers superior quality without a doubt.

Meanwhile, Artify markers range from .50 cents to $1 each. Basically, 2 pieces of Copic markers can get you Artify’s set of 40!

Color Payoff Quality

Both brands are alcohol-based so they allow you to have full control of how you layer your colors. So, can Copic and Artify deliver the same results?

Copic markers take pride in its formula which delivers stable pigmentation that’s very easy to render and blend. Some reviews state that the color transition lines tend to be noticeable when layering. However, this can easily be resolved using their colorless blender which performs exceptionally.

Artify markers are known for their high performance in terms of pigment and blendability too. Mixing colors isn't complex and the transition lines are barely visible. However, Artify’s colorless blender doesn’t work as efficiently as Copic’s. Besides this, the difference between Copic and Artify’s color payoff is almost non-existent as they are very close in comparison.

Note that the payoff also depends on the paper being used.

Comparing Copic and Artify’s Nibs

Copic’s fine nib sets the bar very high. It’s incredibly flexible thanks to its soft rubber material. This is one of the reasons why it’s applauded for its versatility. On the other side, it also has a broad chisel tip that’s perfect for filling larger areas.

Artify’s nibs are made of fiber so there’s a slight difference in their flexibility. We can still say that Artify’s nibs allow you to create more intricate details without any fuss. Its chisel tip executes colors well, too. But if you’re very particular with your grip, you may need to re-attach the chisel nibs because they are placed inconsistently in each marker. It’s still not a deal-breaker considering the price, though.

We’d say both of them are comparable as Artify is the closest to Copic performance-wise.

If you’re a beginner, you’d love Artify’s practicality. For professional artists, it could also be a really nice addition to your art stash!
