Word Book with 'Dia tampan' method
This book was created to complete the client's thesis assignment. An alphabet reading guidebook for children who are just learning to read with the "dia tampan" method. this book is designed with a very complete content. there are pages for introducing the alphabet with illustration object of the letters. also pages that can introduce children to read and write. Except for the illustration I also design the book layout.
not only that, this book is guided by 5 characters from various tribes in Indonesia (not all tribes, we only took a few that felt most representative).
the picture above is draft for the character, that represent the alphabet D,N,T,P,M. but after several revision we upgrade the character become more represent Indonesian tribes.
Let me introduce, This is Dudu from Sundanese. Dudu wear an iconic Sundanese head accessories called 'iket' or ' totopong, more know as 'blangkon sunda'. Dudu also wear a traditional sundanese 'baju pangsi'.
Next is Nana from Dayak tribe. Dayak tribe is the origin tribe from Kalimantan or Borneo. Nana wear dayak traditional clothes called 'bulang kuurung', she use the short-sleeved called 'dekot'. This clothes used by Dayak shaman when they want to performed some rituals.
He is Toto from Batak tribe, North Sumatra, Indonesia. He wear traditional clothing typical from 'Batak Toba' Tribe, is made of ulos cloth (traditional woven fabric). The upper part of clothing is called ampe-ampe and the lower part is called singkot. Also equipped with head accessories called bulang-bulang.
Then there is Pepe, he comes from the easternmost part of Indonesia, Papua Island. Papua province has many tribes with distinctive traditional clothes, this time pepe wears grass clothes with head accessories made from Cenderawasih bird the greater bird of paradise (Paradisaea apoda). this headpiece This headdress is usually used by tribal chiefs.
The last Character is Mimi. Mimi comes from Bugis tribe, South Sulawesi. Mimi use traditional clothes for Bugis Women called 'baju Bodo'. Each color for 'baju bodo' is a symbol of the status, orange for girls, red for teenage girls, white for shamans and green as worn by Mimi for the nobility.
