I was contacted about the Ann Lowe dress project in the summer of 2021 by Winterthur. It was shared with me that the original dress is not able to be shown and therefore, could not be part of the upcoming exhibition. Having already collaborated with Winterthur in other projects, I was asked if I would be able to make the reproduction. Although this was an incredible opportunity, I initially felt that a BIPOC designer should take on the project, and shared a few personal contacts that I thought would be interested in following in Ann Lowe’s footsteps. Ultimately, Winterthur returned to me with the project and I accepted if I could involve students in the process. As an educator and designer, it was important to me to not just teach the skills but to have students know her story.
