The problem is that a) California has several wildly different microclimates with different needs b) people don't realize that small changes in consumption can make a big difference. How to get consumers to take incremental steps like using energy efficient light bulbs while changing long term behavior?

 

SOLUTION: To combat consumer inertia the website was designed to present a different experience based on where the consumer lived. For example, the northern coastal area was presented with different energy saving solutions than the hot central valley regions. Prominent calculators showed not only energy savings today, but costs saving and ROI over time.

 

Consumers could track their conservation progress and share on social networks as well as see the positive changes taking place as more and more people opted to upgrade their home energy systems.
