The Fabric of Nature

The Fabric of Nature
The aim of this First Year project was to explore how familiar
forms and materials can be altered using a restrained graphic
language and create new visual associations. Each piece of
this 12 part series attempts to illustrate 12 different Native
Australian flowers using collaged fabric.
This project was a material exploration and critique on the
nature of fast fashion. “More than $500 billion of value is lost
every year due to clothing underutilisation and the lack of
recycling” (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017). This graphic
sequence was created from thrifted fabrics, and is a reminder
to repair, donate, sell, upcycle or recycle our clothing items.
