KOOA

Project KOOA is a footwear design project funded by the Moholy-Nagy Design Grant. The research was heavily focusing on how direct injection can be a base for creating sustainable footwear that is suitable for circular economy standards, while having a design language that will not alienate early adopters of such use of material construction by the feel of a „plastic clog”. The goal was to achieve a sillhouette that by it’s construction keeps the aesthetics of a sneaker infused with a women’s casual flat shoe.

The original idea was inspired by Bruno Munari’s essay L’Orange where he analyses an orange as a design object considering all of it's aspects form ergonomics, across shareability to recyclability. We wanted to create a product that could hold such qualities at least in parts: sustainability, tastefulness, vibrant colors and healthy living.
