Sally Mann Response
After going over the Sally Mann documentary, I can tell myself, I didn't expect that. Under the topic of having a family member photograph you almost daily, I can almost relate to that. When I was a child, my father loved collecting childhood memories. He would carry around a point and shoot camera and capture random moments, I would be a baby in a bathtub naked and playing with bubbles, or eating dinner with a messy face. I feel like her idea of capturing true art is natural but the part where I differ from her is publishing those private family photos. To me, those are memories kept to be shown to family and future family. Under the topic of her dead art. I completely disagree with her style. I believe the dead should be left alone and only present the good memories of their lives instead of capturing and sharing their dead moments that they literally can relive. I find the action completely disrespectful and demeaning.
