Creating a concept that will effectively shape the future implies great responsibility. Yet, it's the type of commitment we repeatedly love and honor. Our comprehensive design for UDEM's recently published Annual Report 2021—aptly subtitled "The Future Inspires Us"—is a perfect example of shaping the things to come. 

For UDEM's relevant stakeholders, as is the case in any other organization, the Annual Report is the most important yearly document. This summary of operational figures, activities, milestones, and goals set for the following period is an accurate and long-lasting record. It's essentially a snapshot for posterity. Through tireless collaborative work spanning over four months, LAT, alongside UDEM's communications team, outlined this unique document's structure.

Preliminary work was not what you'd expect for this type of project. We think anyone can compile words and numbers; focusing on more profound, critical intangibles is the real challenge. So our starting point was UDEM's new Vision, which we had created months earlier as part of another conceptual and strategic commission from the university. This concept was called "From Vision to version." From vision, distant, to version, timeless. From being = static, to doing = dynamic. It's a guiding principle built upon continuous evolution, connection, adaptation, and, most importantly, orderly, planned, and strategic transformation. 
Alluding graphic resources were used throughout the Annual Report design. Kinetic elements ranging from moving arrows to concentric circles, and reinforcing animations in video applications, are sprinkled thoughtfully in this project. These resources can be transferred to any application to promote engagement with the campus community.

The wide-ranging scope of the project called for distinct design pieces with a shared language but independent attributes. For the report itself, we produced two versions. Editorial design and print management were needed for the physical unit, and digital work was required for the interactive on-screen document. In addition, report highlights and a summary of actions taken by the seven Executive Committees of UDEM were consolidated in two videos that we produced end-to-end. Finally, we delivered a complete array of visual assets for social media use. All these elements were part of the university's vigorous communication effort to launch the report. Activities to this end included a live face-to-face event for the Executive Board, collaborators, benefactors, and UDEM's community in general, and a successful pre and post-event social media campaign.
