"Stitious" comes from the word superstition. Superstitions are beliefs in supernatural casualties--that one event leads to the cause of another event without any natural process linking both together. We use these "saving graces" in hopes they bring luck to any situation. The matching cards include opposite matches of good (lucky) and bad (unlucky), both good (lucky) matches, and both bad (unlucky) matches. Just like the memory card game you're familiar with, by the end of the game whichever player has the most matches wins.
How superstitous are you?
