OAKLEY PRIZM LENS TECHNOLOGY SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
OVERVIEW
Oakley, Inc., is an American company founded in Lake Forest, California by Jim Jannard. The company designs, develops, and manufactures sports performance equipment and lifestyle accessories including sunglasses, sports visors, ski/snowboard goggles, watches, apparel, backpacks, shoes, and optical frames.

One of the many things Oakley has created for their glasses is a technology lens they call Prizm. Prizm enhances detail to improve performance and provides ultra-precise color tuning, designs for specific environments.

THE CHALLENGE
To promote Prizm Lens Technology, Oakley needed a social media campaign for their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter platforms that showcases various photos of models and athletes wearing their sunglasses that use Prizm Lens Technology.

Six graphics are to be created including an Instagram post, Instagram story, Facebook post, Facebook cover, Twitter post and Twitter header. Each graphic will include the Oakley logo and a tagline (excluding the Facebook cover and Twitter header) that reads “See It In Prizm”.

DESIGN PROCESS
The design process began with sketching ideas on paper of where to place images, the logo and tagline for each graphic.

Afterwards, two mockups for each graphic were created to have a better visual representation of how a background image would look. In addition, I experimented with the idea of making some of the images black and white and coloring the lens only to give them more attention. Photos that did not include models or athletes wearing sunglasses were skateboarding and surfing because those two sports are a large part of California culture since Oakley is based in California.
FINAL PRODUCT
The final Instagram post included black borders around the images to increase contrast between them, and the final story included only one image since the maximum amount of time that the user will see the graphic is 10 seconds, so the design must be simplistic.

For the final Facebook graphics, the background color for the cover was black with white borders around the images to increase the contrast between the background and the images. A background image was added to the post and background color was changed to black for aesthetic purposes.

The final image used for the Twitter header was the snowboarder image with a subtle gradient like the Facebook cover. For the post, some of the images were replaced to show a larger variety of the eyewear Oakley makes, and an ocean image was used in the background instead of the snowy mountains because surfing and the ocean is connected to California culture more.
