Lavazza design contest for Desall

This design has been created to participate in a Desall design contest, in which a system of pieces for the Lavazza brand had to be redesigned.Below I detail the design premises that I have followed at the time of making this line of products.

WHY USE WOOD?
It is a renewable material, its rational use allows the forest to regenerate and increase in size.
It is ecological, in its growth it creates forests, it is a refuge for fauna and life, and also because it fixes carbon dioxide.
It is recyclable, once transformed into a product, it can be reused to make others.
It is not toxic, it is a natural product whose vision and touch transmit pleasant sensations of warmth, safety and quality.
It is biodegradable, it does not produce pollution in its degradation, on the contrary, its decomposition helps to create a better quality soil for new plants to grow.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES
I have chosen a combination of techniques for the development of the different pieces, for cutting the wood I have used Laser technology and CNC router.
These are simple pieces that fit into each other, there are some that are made of curved wood and will have a varnish coating that will protect the different elements in daily use.
DESIGN
Inspiration for the design comes from Lavazza's basic shape on the storefront signs that are displayed outside the stores and on the coffee bean container on top of the coffee grinding machines.
I have thought about the conception of the objects since their manufacture, using a circular economy, a friendly, elegant, modern design that is consistent with the Lavazza brand.
Both collections of products will present the same morphology, the standard will differ from the premium for the different woods that I have chosen, in the first one a light wood and a blue logo will be used, and in the second one I have decided to use a dark wood and a logo in silver color.
The designs have improvements that have been suggested in the brief and the benefits of wood are also highlighted, the main improvements are detailed below;
-Napkin holders, this system not only reduces costs, waste and has a lower impact on the environment but also allows easy removal of the napkin, both in the horizontal and vertical napkin holders.
-Large sugar holder, its capacity has been improved, it allows inserting the menu inside and it also allows inserting the Paulista totem, all this is achieved without hindering the extraction of sugars.
-Small sugar holder, its capacity has been improved and allows the insertion of communication materials inside.
-Physical support for communication, these are simple elements that allow the placement of communication panels of different sizes without taking up too much space, a piece was also incorporated that allows the use of an electronic tablet as a means of communication. Having a simple design makes the communication panels stand out even more.
-Menu Holder, a more attractive design has been achieved that is in system with the other elements, it can be placed inside the large sugar holder and can be also support a graphic piece.
-Dripper V60, has a more professional appearance and is in line with the premium line.
-Tray, the surface is treated with a non-slip coating that prevents plates and cups from slipping, while the curved edges of the tray provide a comfortable grip.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a simple design that highlights the qualities of wood, can be integrated into any environment, presents improvements and adjusts to the needs of each client.
This project is designed from its manufacture, using techniques, materials and processes that are friendly to the environment, taking into account a circular economy, while also keeping costs low and little waste, all without losing sight of the quality and excellence of each piece.
The result is a sober and modern design, in keeping with the brand and in which each piece is in line with the other.
