Heart on the pavement
I fell hard for that smile of hers, yet we weren’t even datin’,
I picked myself up from the ground but my heart is still on the pavement,
The sun came out, It’s a new day and I still ain’t got a reason for saving it,
I feel like pouring gasoline and lighting a match to set flames to it,
B/c as this clock ticks, her smile, I still find myself cravin’ it,
But these feelings have become more like baggage to me, I know she won’t be Claiming it,
And here is why,
When the time came for our first date, I bought a rose just to watch it die,
her words left me hanging like coat sitting out to dry,
man enough to admit it hurt, but I still couldn’t find the time to cry,
I been on this road before, this time I won’t allow it to shatter my confidence or even my pride,
At the end of it, All I learned is to just stay in my lane and focus on me, myself, and I.
