Robert Styron's profile

History of The Strays Band

An experienced musician and musical educator in New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert Styron is a talented music specialist with the city’s Jefferson Parish Public Schools and a resident artist at the Hymel School of Music in nearby Gretna. Robert Styron also plays in five different bands, including the Strays.

When they originally came together in 2010, members of the Strays had no intention of becoming a serious band. However, after playing for fun, they decided to take their music to the stage.

The Strays’ first gig came when singer Michael Aaron asked the band to play with him at the Alligator Festival in the New Orleans suburb of Luling. They have been entertaining audiences throughout Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi ever since.

In addition to covering a broad spectrum of classics from the full history of rock and dance music, the Strays have a catalog of original songs. Over the years, they have played at a variety of events, such as the Shaw Shrimp and Jambalaya Festival, and establishments that range from The Tasting Room in New Orleans to Bruce's Fat Boys Retreat in Luling.
