In addition to creating 2d artwork, in my freetime I like to translate that work into things that are a bit more 3d but also related to graphic design. Projects like this breathe new life into the everyday 2d artwork of graphic design.

In this example I designed an award for my son's boba-tea-loving kindergarten teacher on Illustrator and brought it into a laser cutter to finish the piece with different types of wood and acrylic. In Illustrator is all about the layers, and in a finished lasered piece, its also about the layers, but in true 3D.

Now if you will excuse me, I somehow feel the urge to go out to get some boba.
