화곡원(靴曲園)은 한국의 전통신발인 화혜(靴鞋)의 곡선미를 파사드로 옮겨담은 복합문화공간입니다. 해당 건축물은 외국인 관광객의 니즈와 함께 점차 역사문화 보존의 중요성을 잃어가는 후세대들에게 전통신발이라는 소재를 통해서 다양한 체험과 관람을 통한 지속적인 관심을 유도함과 동시에 해당 사이트인 '경상감영공원'의 거리살리기를 목표로 기획 및 설계되었습니다.
HwaGokWon(靴曲園) is cultural space that transfers the curved beauty of traditional Korean shoe calling Hwahye(靴鞋) to the façade. The building induces continuous interest through various experiences and viewing through the material of traditional shoes to future generations, who are gradually losing the importance of preserving history and culture along with the needs of foreign tourists. The site was planned and designed with the goal of revitalizing the streets of 'Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park'.

리서치를 통해 국내 방문을 목적으로 하는 해외 관광객들의 관심이 다양한 전통문화 체험과 함께 방문을 기념하기 위한 전통굿즈의 다양화를 희망한다는 점을 확인할 수 있었습니다. 해당 니즈를 충족시키기 위해 방문객 개개인이 자신의 전통신발을 스스로 디자인 및 소장하는 컨텐츠를 통해 한류에 대한 관심과 굿즈에 대한 애정을 증진시킬 것을 기대합니다.Through the research, we were able to confirm that the interest of foreign tourists for the purpose of visiting Korea is that they hope to buy traditional goods to commemorate their visit along with various traditional cultural experiences.
In order to satisfy this need, we expect that each visitor will increase their interest in K-Culture and their love for goods through the contents of designing and owning their own traditional shoes.

경상감영공원은 조선 선조 시기 경상도 관할을 목적으로 쓰여진 도청과 같은 기관으로 1910년 ~ 1965년까지 경상북도 전체 관활 및 역할 수행 후 1970년 공원으로 탈바꿈한 대구의 심장과 같은 장소입니다. 그러나 현재는 역세권임에도 불구하고 좁은 골목에 위치해 있어 노출이 적은 탓에 6080 세대들로 채워졌으며 점차 생기를 잃어가기 시작했습니다. 본 프로젝트는 해당 거리가 지닌 전통성에 힘을 빌림과 동시에 2030세대들의 활발한 왕복을 통한 거리살리기를 기대하며 해당 공원을 사이트로 선정했습니다.Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park is the same place as the heart of Daegu, which was transformed into a park in 1970 after performing all government affairs and roles in Gyeongsangbuk-do from 1910 to 1965. However, it is currently located in a narrow alley despite the station area, so it is filled with 6080 generations due to low exposure, and it is starting to lose its vitality. This project borrowed strength from the tradition of the street and selected the park as the site, hoping to revive the street through active round-tripping of the 2030 generations.

화혜(靴鞋)의 화(靴)는 북쪽지방의 전장을 누비는 기마부대가 주로 신던 목이 있는 장화형태의 가죽신발을 일컫고, 혜(鞋)는 남쪽지방에서 거주하는 이들이 주로 신던 신발을 칭합니다. 해당 건축물은 ‘혜’의 아름다움으로 꼽을 수 있는 '곡선미'를 재해석하여 파사드로 표현하였으며 위성의 뷰로 건축물을 바라볼 시에 ‘화’를 측면에서 바라본 것과 같은 지붕형태로 건축물을 디자인하였습니다.
Hwa-hye(靴鞋)'s 'Hwa'(靴) refers to the leather shoes with a neck that were worn mainly by horse troops roaming the battlefield in the north, and 'Hye' (鞋) refers to the shoes mainly worn by people living in the southern regions. The building is expressed as a façade by reinterpreting the 'curve beauty' that can be counted as the beauty of 'Hye'.
