FINN - The Peacock Bass
(One Punggol Community Hub Mascot)
Joining Singapore band of iconic mascots. I am happy to share our new mascot for One Punggol Community Hub. Finn, the friendly peacock bass!
FINN Mascot Rationale
Punggol has one of the strongest fishing heritage histories in Singapore. From pre-independence to the present day, our finned friends of many colours and sizes have been seen to populate its waters. The rich and rustic ambiance of Punggol has long been home to our local fishermen too, where they made their living by the open waters of Pulau Punggol Barat and Punggol Point Jetty. It’s what makes our neighbourhood so special: the former fishing village teeming with cultural richness lets us momentarily forget about the hustle and bustle of city life. Hence, it’s no wonder that the vibrant and vivacious peacock bass of Punggol stands out from the crowd too – just like its hometown.
Meet Finn from the neighbourhood: you would probably recognise him for his striking scales of yellows, greens and blues. It’s pretty hard to miss! He prides himself on representing his best self as an individual and to those around him, while embracing an inclusive community. His colourful appearance and characteristics do justice in representing our vibrant community at One Punggol, which is made up of active residents from all walks of life.
The resemblance definitely doesn’t end there, though. Like our high-spirited community, Finn steals the spotlight for his energetic personality that never shies away from reaching its full potential. He also gets along swimmingly through any challenge along with three of his species in Singapore, just as the people of One Punggol build a robust and resilient community by growing alongside one another. All in all, Finn knows that he can count on his community for support at any time, just as each of us is key to building a better and brighter tomorrow in our neighbourhood.
