Things to keep in mind while riding Electric Skateboard

Things to keep in mind before riding on an Electric Skateboard
At the moment, e-skateboards are not allowed on public roads. This means that you can only drive it on private property or other StVO-free areas.

This is because the boards can reach speeds of more than six km/h without using any muscle power. According to the current legal situation, you would have to register and insure electric skateboards in order to be allowed to participate in road traffic. In addition, a roadworthy equipment would have to be available. These include: handlebars, brakes and lights - quite a lot to ask for a skateboard.

I hope, of course, that the legal situation will change soon and that electric skateboards will also be allowed. Until then, you can only jet on private property.

Do I need protective clothing?
There is no obligation to do so, since you are not allowed to drive on public roads anyway. However, protective clothing is highly recommended. Especially at higher speeds, there is a high chance that you will lose your balance and fall off the board. If you want to ride a skateboard, you have to assume that you will fall down. In this case, protective clothing is very beneficial.

You should at least put on a helmet because not only can it be very painful to hit your head, it can also leave permanent damage. A helmet protects you from that at least a little bit. Knee and elbow pads and wrist guards can prevent abrasions and reduce pain on impact. What you end up using is of course up to you.

Conclusion: what is an electric skateboard?
An e-skateboard - like an e-scooter - is something between a fun gadget and a means of transport. On the one hand you have the dynamics of a longboard, on which some skaters not only cruise, but also dance or show tricks. On the other hand, you have a medium-fast board with which you can cruise from A to B without exerting yourself too much.

This means that the e-skateboard can be used in a variety of ways. Because you first have to learn how to use the board and can refine the use with little tricks and dances, the e-board can be a fun hobby. In addition, it offers the possibility of overcoming distances effortlessly.
