Why are you crying I asked?
I have lost my home and everything in it she replied
And I could feel her loss
Tangible and clear.
Another said
I have lost the love of my life
She was everything to me
Fifty years we were together
And now I am alone
And I could feel his loss
So personal and succinct.
Another said
I have lost my self
I don't know who I am or where to go
My career supported me and now
I have rejected it.
And I could feel her pain
The loss of position and place is deep
Then a young boy stepped forward
I have lost my parents
No longer shall they love me
I am utterly alone
And I could feel his pain
And reached out to him
You are not lost I said
Just left to find strength and fortitude
For you will rise my friend
And lead a Nation who are also lost.
And I could feel his joy
His tears were of hope
His mind was alive with ideas

I will undo what so so many took for themselves
