Student Design Work from the 2020-21 school year

The works below have been created in the Graphic Communications class by the students at the Dickinson-Iron Technical Education Center in Kingsford, Michigan. Students come to the Tech Center from eight local Michigan and Wisconsin high schools.
ANIMATION/MOTION GRAPHIC PROJECTS
Students learned basic animation using Adobe Photoshop. The project topic was their choice.

3D DESIGN/PRINTING
Students used 3D design software to create content that could be printed with the 3D printer.

GAME DESIGN & 3D Printing
Second year students completed their school year by creating and designing a board game. They designed double-sided cards, game board/score card, 3D pieces (The students used a combination of Adobe Illustrator and freeware to design items to print from the 3D printer.), instructions, and any other necessary parts/information.

FUN WITH PHOTOSHOP
Students were asked to combine randomly selected images to make "hybrid" animals using the tool in Adobe Photoshop. This exercise helps develop skills to be used in photo editing and correction.

MULTI-PAGE DESIGN
Students work on multiple page designs throughout the year including children's book design (first year students) and cookbook designs (second year students).

OPPOSITES DESIGN
Students demonstrate two opposites in the same composition. Shown without words and shown with text added.

3D/PERSPECTIVE GRID MOCK-UP
Students used the Perspective Grid tool in Adobe Illustrator to create a mock-up of an environment with a building and business sign.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND PRODUCT PROMOTION
Students began by creating an identity (logo) for a product of their choosing. Then, they designed the label for a container and applied it to the container/made the container.
In a following assignment, they photographed the product, edited the photograph (if necessary), and then designed posters promoting their products.
