I have chosen to display the social issue of police brutality in South Africa through the contrast between the nonchalant attitude of South African police and the violent and brutal methods they choose to torture citizens. In the background I have illustrated the abstract textures of tubes and plastic bags in red to evoke violence and contrast with the bright blue police light in the foreground. The abstract nature of the illustration creates a sense of uncertainty, chaos and confusion, which is commonly felt as a reaction to police brutality. Statistics, quotes and data are placed within the poster however they are placed in such a way that they are almost illegible and are also covered in certain places with censorship blocks. This is to evoke the idea that statistics and cases of police brutality are often covered by the government and difficult for the public to access.
