The Pokédex [digital video/embroidery]

The Pokédex: is an acronym for Pokémon Index. (unknown Pokémon font)
In the Pokémon series, the Pokédex is a small device used to catalog and provide information about all Pokémon. Each generation and each series of the Pokémon show provide different styles of the Pokédex. This Pokédex design is featured in the first original 1997 season of Pokémon, Pokémon: Indigo League.
This self-drafted cross stitch pattern is created on Aida fabric and then mounted onto a 270gsm card stock and finished with red felt. The design features a pocket to create an interchangeable "display screen". The display screen features watercolor paintings of a variety of Pokémon.
After painting all 151 Pokémon from the Kanto generation, I started to photograph the images inside of the Pokédex. I wanted to use my photographs to recreate the classic Pokérap from the Indigo League series. Occassionally, after the Pokémon episode, there would be a special extra ending featuring the Pokérap. These little details are all nostalgic for me. The song and video clips are from the original Pokémon rap and are not my own.
