A larger than life (absurd) object created as a gift for a person embarking on an overseas journey to Greece. The object should reflect the individuals personality or interests;

BACKGROUND / loves lingerie, Greece, gardening & mechanical engineering 

THE STATUE / the ancient statue constructed from polystyrene represents her destination (Greece), engraved on the pedestal is ‘brassiere’ in original Greek text.

THE BRA / represents her love for lingerie. It is constructed from various metals, including screws, batteries, a light bulb & circuit board reflecting mechanical engineering. 

Branches & twigs represents gardening.  A brass keyhole can be seen, placed as a symbolic gesture of her 'unlocking' the gift.  Two steel-wool strips is attached to the bra making this a wearable item. The ageing & corrosion method of patina was applied to give the metal elements on the bra a rustic and dated look.
