I’m excited to share with you my recent work “Stranger tides” I created this painting over two Saturdays and it is the 53rd and final (for now) in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in us all. New horizons, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our worlds.

The light grew brighter as Mia swam upwards, she watched the churn of the waves above and braced herself to push through the surface of this new ocean she found herself in.

The waves receded as she surfaced, she drank in the sight of a deep cobalt blue sky with billions of twinkling stars.

Dominating the horizon was the spectacular view of a large ringed moon, impossibly close and breathtakingly beautiful.

Thoughts of her parents excitement cascaded through her mind as they showed her the transport hub and the portal, a vault like door that opened into a tunnel with a liquid metal wall at the far end.

“When you pass through the wall you will be home” her father explained. “Swim up to the surface, Rayna will go with you, we will follow shortly with a vessel and we’ll give you a tour of our homeworld. We want you to experience it as we did when our parents brought us home more than 60 years ago.”

Mia stepped towards the wall at the end of the room, she placed her on its shimmering surface and watched as her hand disappeared in the Mercury like surface.

She smiled, gave a wave and disappeared into the wall.

Rayna followed her friend.

Another adventure would soon begin…
