INKTOBER 2021
In the October of 2021 I participated in the Inktober challenge for the second time and to make it a little more exciting for myself I decided to fit all of the prompts into a single theme - the theme I chose was birds as I'm a big fan of all avians
1. CRYSTAL
My theme for 2021 was BIRDS - going to try a fit every prompt to the theme. So today we have a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo stealing a crystal XD
2. SUIT
In keeping with my theme of birds, please find my submission of a Chinstrap Penguin in a suit - isn't he cute!!
3. VESSEL
It's a mama Swan ferrying her babies around. Did you know that young swans are called cygnets?
4. KNOT
Please have two flamingos in a rather knotty situation. I love this colour combination of blue, pinks and greens - hope you like it!
5. RAVEN
Apparently winter is coming XD
And I'm still waiting for book number 6 *sigh *
5. SPIRIT
This spirit is benign! A cute duck in it's Halloween costume for y'all. Hope you like it!
7. FAN
Interpreting this as a Japanese fan, because, why not XD The birds are called the Japanese white-eye and they feed on the nectar of cherry blossoms
8. WATCH
Birdwatching is an amazing pass time and blue jays are one of my favourite birds - I hope to be able to see one IRL!
9. PRESSURE
I know it's a myth that eagles push their chicks out of their nests to get them to fly, but I couldn't resist - that fledgling definitely feels the pressure XD
10. PICK
Apparently the theory that magpies steal shiny trinkets to decorate their nests isn't true either - my life is a lie!

Can't believe it's already been 10 days - hope I can get through this year's Inktober!
11. SOUR
I drew a Golden Oriole with a lemon for this one, couldn't really think of anything else associated with the prompt - and I'm not sure about this colour combination, so not my best work this Inktober
12. STUCK
It's a Common Pheasant (M) stuck in a net - he needs a little help
I'm running out of ideas and beginning to slightly regret picking birds as my overall theme XD
13. ROOF
The sight of gorgeous peacocks perched on roofs and fences is a pretty common sight in the outskirts of the city! This one's just enjoying the view
14. TICK
Oxpeckers perform an essential service for herd animals of the Savannah - removing ticks from their hides
15. HELMET
This ostrich puts safety first! Be like ostrich, wear a helmet
16. COMPASS
Arctic terns navigate from the Arctic circle to the Antarctic circle (about 30K kilometers) every year, they have an incredible internal compass. But maybe sometimes they get a little lost XD
17. COLLIDE
Birds colliding with windows is a tragically common occurrence in urban centres - if you notice something like this, there are steps that you can take to 'bird-proof' windows
18. MOON
It's Hedwig! Bringing you OWL results, swooping in from the moonlit night sky! I was really excited for this one!
19. LOOP
It's a very happy Blue Macaw doing a loop de loop!
I'm pretty proud of the animated version I made for this prompt

20. SPROUT
A puffin watering her garden because she wants to ensure her flowers sprout! I had fun drawing a puffin - they are somehow cute and funny looking at the same time
21. FUZZY
A fuzzy European Robin preparing for winter. Liked the colours on this one!
22. OPEN
I could only think of a pelican opening it's bill wide to swallow a fish. This is an American White Pelican!
23. LEAK
Pretty self explanatory I think. This is the Regal Sunbird - so bright and colourful!
24. EXTINCT
Several species of birds have faced extinction in the past 350 years due to human activity - but I think the Dodo was the most prominent of these
25. SPLAT
Have a Pheasant Tailed Jacana, she's upset because one of her eggs went splat. These lovely birds can be found in marshes in and around Chennai!
26. CONNECT
This Bearded Reedling connects two plant stalks to allow his Harvest Mouse friend to cross! XD Hope you like it!
I just couldn't find a background colour that fit this one

27. SPARK
Couldn't think of anything other than two Barn Swallows on an electric line - but mostly this was just an excuse to draw swallows
28. CRISPY
Just a Brown-headed Gull enjoying some crispy fries
29. PATCH
Baya Weavers patching up their home for monsoon season
30. SLITHER
This is a Secretary Bird - it lives in Africa and stomps on slithering snakes for dinner XD
31. RISK
Kingfishers and other diving birds take a big risk when they dive for food. If the dive is performed improperly they could drown. This is the Common Kingfisher!
