O evento já tem seu nome marcado na história de Goiás, sendo o maior do gênero na América Latina. Os atletas saem de Trindade rumo a Aruanã, percorrendo 310 km durante 5 dias, com o intuito de despertar a atenção de todos para a preservação ambiental. São 11 cidades em que 29 os andarilhos carregam em seus gestos a mensagem da preservação do Rio Araguaia e de todo o cerrado. O projeto também envolve ações locais de conscientização, por meio da mobilização de crianças e adultos, levando diversão, conhecimento e informação aos municípios percorridos.

The event has already made its mark in the history of Goiás, being the largest of its kind in Latin America. Athletes leave from Trindade towards Aruanã, covering 310 km over 5 days, with the aim of drawing everyone's attention to environmental preservation. The 29 walkers carry in their actions the message of preserving the Araguaia River and the entire cerrado region through 11 cities. The project also involves local awareness-raising activities, by mobilizing children and adults, bringing fun, knowledge, and information to the municipalities covered.

The Ecological Walk is back after two years, at a time when we have a record of deforestation in the Cerrado. Em 2021, o desmatamento no Cerrado foi o maior dos últimos seis anos.
É o maior índice de desmatamento desde 2016.
Por falta de verba, o Inpe desmobilizou equipe de monitoramento do Cerrado e dados sobre o bioma devem ser mantidos até abril. Depois disso, o projeto deve ser descontinuado.

This is the highest deforestation rate since 2016.
Due to lack of funding, INPE disbanded the Cerrado monitoring team and data about the biome should be maintained until April. After that, the project is expected to be discontinued.
